1:1 therapy

sad-girl-1382940_960_720Counselling offers a safe space for clients to identify, explore and find strategies to cope with the issues causing them distress. Sessions will normally last 50 minutes and be at the same time each week. The counsellor will not give advice, but will listen and provide a focus. This safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment can create a space for you to explore any emotions you are experiencing.

In time this can help you develop new coping strategies and gain insights and the confidence to make your own choices and find a more fulfilling way forward. At first, counselling can sometimes feel difficult as it may involve talking about life events, feelings and patterns of behaviour, but the counsellor will be attentive, caring and understanding.

Often clients may have experienced trauma and counselling can help with trauma symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, panic attacks, sleep disturbances and other physical or emotional issues.

Counselling can help you make sense of what has happened to you. Trauma counselling shouldn’t be rushed. The counsellor will have the skills to proceed at a safe pace and be able to build support mechanisms along the way.
